The Maiden High Skuul Maths League Excellence Awards, held in the Adansi North District of Ashanti Region, Ghana, crowned top performers in a ground-breaking competition that showcased the mathematical competence of students from the region. The event, organized by Enobanation Ghana and its partners, took place at Fomena in the Ashanti Region on 22nd August, 2024.
In his address, the Head of the Mathematics Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Very Rev. Professor William Obeng-Denteh, emphasized that mathematics is not merely a subject in the curriculum but a fundamental tool that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills—key elements essential for navigating the ever-changing world.
Professor Obeng-Denteh's remarks highlighted the ceremony, where students who excelled in the competition were honored for their achievements.
The Founder and CEO of Enobanation Ghana, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Asamoah, provided an overview of the competition, noting that 300 students from three Senior High Schools—Asare Bediako, T.I. Ahmadiyya, Fomena, and Dompoase Senior High School—participated in the event. The competition was structured in three stages, with only those who scored above half of the total score advancing to the next round. Ultimately, 23 students qualified for the final examination in the third stage.
