Department Head's Address

The Department of Mathematics continues to be the leading Mathematics in Ghana since its inception in the year 1967. Renowned mathematicians such as Prof. Andrzej Buraczewski, Prof. F.K.A. Allotey, Prof. T.C. Owusu-Ansah, Prof. Abbiw Jackson, Dr. S.A. Opoku who were staff of the Department laid solid foundations which helped in this feat. The Department’s strategic mandate is to equip students with a strong background in the mathematical concept and its applications to solving real-life problems. The vision is to produce high-caliber graduates to sustain the industrial and socio-economic development of Ghana and Africa.

The Department currently teaches almost all the mathematics courses in the University, providing graduates with specific quantitative skills that will assist them in their future careers in science and develop some problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
