T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS Fomena Wins 2nd Edition of High Skuul Maths League Inter-SHS Competition

The 2nd Edition of the High Skuul Maths League (HSML) Inter-SHS Competition, organized by Enobanation Ghana, has successfully concluded with T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Fomena, emerging as the overall winner.

The six-month-long competition, which ran from February to July 2025, was crowned with an Excellence Awards Ceremony on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Great Hall of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Fomena. The initiative seeks to promote mathematics education through healthy academic competitions among senior high schools in the Adansi North District, inspiring excellence and innovation among students.

The program was organized in partnership with the Sɔ Mu Bi Initiative, Ghana Education Service (Adansi North), the Adansi North District Assembly, and the Mathematics Department of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. It also received generous support from a wide range of sponsors, including Adansiman Pharmaceuticals Limited, Unique Insurance Company Limited, Nicholas Abekah Foundation, Desmond Afoakwah Foundation, Societal Women Foundation, Kelish Printz, Shedlight Creativity, Adansi Traditional Council, Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie II (Adansihene), Adansi North District Assembly, Kacedi Multimedia, and other award sponsors.

Three senior high schools from the district participated in this year’s contest—T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, Fomena, Dompoase SHS, and Asare Bediako SHS. Guest schools, Apagya SHS and Bodwesango SHS, also attended and are expected to join the 2026 edition.

A wide range of awards was presented to celebrate academic performance, subject excellence, and outstanding teaching. These included student awards for the best performers in Home Economics, Visual Arts, Business, General Arts, and Science, along with overall winners of the league. Special awards such as the Sɔ Mu Bi Award, the Outstanding Female Student Award, and recognitions for the top three student performers across schools were also presented. Teacher awards honored the Most Outstanding Teacher and two runners-up, while schools were also ranked and awarded based on their overall performance.

At the student level, Tettey Faith Mawulawe from T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, Fomena, was crowned Winner of HSML 2025 and also received the Outstanding Female Student Award. Suleman Abdul-Razak, also from T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, placed 1st Runner-up, while Abdul-Karim Rufaidu Wumpini and Sarpong Deborah, both from the same school, tied for 2nd Runner-up.

Among teachers, Mr. Tieku Stephen from T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, Fomena, was honored as the Most Outstanding Teacher of HSML 2025. Mr. Maxwell Amofa of Asare Bediako SHS and Mr. Louis Amoah of Dompoase SHS received the 2nd and 3rd Most Outstanding Teacher Awards, respectively.

At the school level, T.I. Ahmadiyya SHS, Fomena, was named the overall Winner of HSML 2025. Dompoase SHS secured the 1st Runner-up position, while Asare Bediako SHS placed 2nd Runner-up.

The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to teachers for their mentorship, parents for their encouragement, and the management of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Fomena, for making the Great Hall available for the awards ceremony. They also commended the sponsors and partners whose support made the competition a resounding success.

Looking ahead, organizers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding the High Skuul Maths League, with more schools expected to participate in the third edition in 2026. “This competition is not just about mathematics, but about building confidence, resilience, and academic excellence among our youth,” they stated.
