The Department of Mathematics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape of the institution since its early years. Established as part of the Kumasi College of Technology in 1952, KNUST evolved into a full-fledged university by 1961. The Faculty of Science, inaugurated the same year, housed several departments, including Mathematics.

Over the years, the Department of Mathematics has grown significantly, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in pure and applied mathematics. Committed to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement, the department continues to contribute to the advancement of mathematical sciences in Ghana and beyond.
